Opportunities to support the purchase of an automated external defibrillator are on going!
Automated external defibrillators (AEDs) are portable, life-saving devices designed to treat people experiencing sudden cardiac arrest, a medical condition in which the heart stops beating suddenly and unexpectedly.
The combination of CPR and early defibrillation is effective in saving lives when used in the first few minutes following a collapse from sudden cardiac arrest.
AEDs are a type of computerized defibrillator that automatically analyzes the heart rhythm in people who are experiencing cardiac arrest. When appropriate, it delivers an electrical shock to the heart to restore its normal rhythm. The AED system includes accessories, such as a battery and pad electrodes, that are necessary for the AED to detect and interpret a person’s heart rhythm and deliver an electrical shock if one is needed. There are two main types of AEDs: public access and professional use. We will be pursuing the purchase of a public access AED, like what can be found in airports, community centers, schools, government buildings, hospitals, and other public locations. The AED will be located at the Clubhouse. For that reason, it is important that club members make sure they have a key to gain access to the Clubhouse. This type of AED is intended to be used by laypeople who have received minimal training. Training will be offered so that you can use it in case of emergency.
While we hope the AED will simply take up a little space in the Clubhouse, saving one life would make purchasing one a very worthwhile pursuit.
Our current funds set aside for the AED is $467. All proceeds and donations from the breakfast burrito sale on August 15 will go to the fund, as well as donations for breakfast on August 22 provided by the Far West Rally Campers.
Your support is appreciated!
